Now Playing...Willis Earl Beal

Haven't heard of Willis Earl Beal?  You probably will...if not for his music, at least his story.

Beal was born in Chicago, discharged from the Army for medical issues, worked at the Sears Tower, moved to Albuquerque and became homeless....  it was during this time in Albuquerque that Beal started recording music and doing it in a way that I've never heard of.

Beal would leave CD-R's in public places, leave self-illustrated flyers trying to get a girlfriend, and from there, it's all history.  That's gangster as SHIT...  homeless guy getting after it for a dime via a flyer and gets discovered leaving things around town????  Dude even landed on The X Factor...c'mon

Check out Beal's first major release, Acousmatic Sorcery, out now.  It's a mix of soul, rock, everything....and recorded lo-fi, so I'm diggin' for sure.  Here's the first single/video from Acousmatic Sorcery, "Evening's Kiss":

open...play....digest...enjoy,

Cubby

p.s. - and later dookie out of course
